A slender plot in the crowded fabric of Manhattan’s Sixth Avenue becomes a study of living within a narrow urban gap. The design begins with the convergence of stories, memory and fragments of time in this compressed setting.

Edward Hopper’s solitary shadows, muted warmth and dim light offer one reference; Georgia O’Keeffe’s experience of “living within the building” offers another. Together they frame a layered conception of life shaped by height, light and introspection. The high-rise is considered through the atmosphere of inhabitation as much as through its presence in the dense city.
