The hospital and elderly-care centre is arranged as connected courtyard groups within a mountain setting. Long building volumes follow the contours and change level with the terrain, reducing extensive excavation and levelling.

The wings turn and join to enclose several courtyards, maintaining connections between the buildings while bringing planting and daylight into the complex. These courts break down its overall mass and give the surrounding rooms access to daylight and outdoor views. Paths, trees and lawns between the buildings provide places to pause and walk during treatment, rehabilitation and everyday life.

Pitched roofs and stepped volumes respond to the surrounding mountains and draw on the forms of local houses. Continuous horizontal shading elements and projecting eaves moderate sunlight, casting bands of shadow across the white facades. Changes in roof height and repeated horizontal lines give the connected buildings a shared character while distinguishing the individual groups.
