Dong'an Xinyuan brings residential towers, commercial podiums and underground parking together in a super high-rise complex at an urban transport node. Towers of different heights are articulated into vertical sections, giving the ensemble a distinct skyline, while street-level shops connect it to the surrounding neighbourhood.

A parallel grid coordinates the arrangement of the towers, their structure and the dwelling units. The commercial podiums form a continuous base along the street, with housing rising above and parking below. The towers share a common orientation, while their component volumes and rooflines rise and fall in steps. This breaks the large ensemble into legible vertical masses. Seen from different streets, their overlap and differences in height produce changing profiles.

Dark vertical frames and the repeated horizontal lines of windows and balconies establish the order of the elevations. Open lattice structures continue these horizontal lines above the solid building masses, giving the towers a lighter termination. Stepping with the volumes below, they carry the rhythm of the façades into the skyline. The shared grid and lines hold the ensemble together, while its articulation and varying heights temper its apparent bulk.
